Oppo F27 Pro Plus 5G: In an ever-evolving world of smartphones, the newest from Oppo, the F27 Pro+ 5G, offers a level of durability that will surprise for more than just its looks. Dressed in a slick coat of vegan leather, with IP69 certified, 360° protection Oppo is surely going after consumers who prioritize form and function.

But aside from its rugged aesthetic, how does it hold up to daily use? So what does it bring to the party? And does it do enough to go up against what is now a very packed mid-range? Let’s dig in.

Designs That Turn Heads, Even While They Take a Beating

The first thing that will strike you about the Oppo F27 Pro+ 5G is just how premium it looks. It’s a curved design wrapped in vegan leather, and is handsome and comfortable to hold. It comes in two colors — Dusk Pink and Midnight Navy — and looks high end in either.

But it’s not just all looks. Oppo has assigned this phone a MIL-STD-810H rating and it’s the first Oppo phone to be certified to IP69, which means it’s able to resist high-pressure water jets, and carry on surviving even in extreme environments. It’s even rated at IP68 and IP66, meaning it’s as dust-proof as it is safe from accidental splashes or dunks. All in a phone that’s just 177 grams.

It is, in short, a rare mix of beauty and brawn.

Display: Smooth and Immersive

The phone’s 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED curved display offers 120Hz refresh rate giving you smooth scrolling and stunning visuals. Gaming, watching YouTube or swiping through Instagram, the panel feels snappy and bright with a peak brightness of 950 nits.

And despite its curves, Oppo has found a way to minimize accidental touches with smart palm rejection algorithms. It also has a 2160Hz PWM dimming rate to reduce visual fatigue over extended periods of use.

Performance: Smooth Enough for the Average User

The F27 Pro+, on the other hand, runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It isn’t the greatest chip, but it handles everything from multi-tasking and browsing to light gaming just fine. Popular games such as BGMI and Asphalt 9 run smoothly under medium to high settings.

If you’re a casual user, you don’t have anything to gripe about as far as speed or responsiveness is concerned.

Battery and Charging

The phone carries a massive 5,000mAh battery that comes along with 67W SUPERVOOC fast charge. That translates to approximately 50 per cent charge in only 20 minutes, and a full top-up in about 45 minutes in real-world conditions.

Battery life is good, holding strong over an entire day with moderate use (such as social media, streaming and a few calls). It also features Battery Health Engine tech to help preserve battery life over the long term.

Camera You can get a good shot with the camera, but you’re not going to be blown away.

For imaging, the F27 Pro+ 5G sports a 64MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The back camera does a decent job in good lighting, capturing sharp, well-balanced images. There’s the depth sensor to aid portrait mode, but don’t expect the same separation you’d get from a DSLR.

The 8MP front-facing camera is OK if not stellar for selfies and video chats, and lacks the pop other competitors have. The night photography isn’t bad but it’s not the phone’s strength.

Software and Experience

The phone runs on ColorOS 14 over Android 14 and it feels clean and user-friendly. Oppo’s also committed to two years of major OS updates and three years of security updates, which is fine but isn’t exactly leading the industry.

Pros and Cons

Oppo F27 Pro Plus 5G Final Verdict

The Oppo F27 Pro+ 5G does something delightfully different for the mid-range smartphone world: real ruggedness in a fashionable frame. It’s not a powerhouse, hardware- or camera-wise, and there’s no denying that – but it does back that up with fit, finish and coherence in its performance and design.

If you’re a kind of person who desires a dependable everyday phone with an extra layer of protection and a sprinkle of luxury, you very well may have found your next daily driver.
