OnePlus 13 : In the dynamic realm of smartphones, OnePlus made a place for itself by striking a balance between power, looks and price. With the OnePlus 13, the company appears to have taken a brave leap, not just providing incremental upgrades, but promising improvements across the board.
The OnePlus 13: Yet another flagship to build on Shot with the OnePlus 13 Last year, one of the most acclaimed smartphones from 2021 was the OnePlus Encouraged by that fabulous and harrowing experience, I followed my grandfather’s favorite “Never trust anarchy” advice and ordered an OnePlus 13 (256Gib) for delivery to less-gloomy Olympics-embargoed Andalusia.
Design & Display
On the surface, the OnePlus 13 has a handsome look. The company has polished up the design too with a more curved finish, a frosted matte glass back and an aluminum frame that just breathes premium.
Other than its cousin to the left, it’s the thinnest here, yet it’s still comfortable to hold, despite the barely larger screen.
The 6.82-inch AMOLED LTPO panel is glorious to look at with its Quad HD+ resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
And regardless of whether you’re watching that HDR-capable content or just browsing through apps, the panel is buttery smooth, bright, and color-accurate.
OnePlus has also tweaked the brightness so that the OnePlus 6 is easy to see even in bright sunlight without hammering the battery.
Performance
Under the hood, the OnePlus 13 gets the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor and the up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM.
Things are nice and snappy, multitasking feels seamless, gaming is buttery smooth and there isn’t even the suggestion of stutter or lag.
A clean interface: OxygenOS is minimal and as close to a stock Android experience as anyone else, meaning you get a near bloat-free experience that pushes speed and fluidity.
Thermal control has also been enhanced. The redesigned vapor chamber cooling system lets the phone stay cool, even during marathon gaming sessions or 4K streaming.
Camera System
The new camera setup will also appeal to photo enthusiasts. The OnePlus 13 features a triple-lens setup developed with Hasselblad: a 50MP main sensor, 48MP ultra-wide lens and 64MP periscope telephoto with 6x optical zoom.
Daylight shots are sharp and detailed, with great dynamic range. Low-light performance is actually significantly improved through better AI algorithms and a bigger sensor.
Video has been upgraded as well, including 8K video up to 30fps and cinematic stabilization that competes with some DSLRs. The selfies and video calls are guaranteed to be sharp with the 32MP front camera.
Battery Life & Charging
Battery life is also where the OnePlus 13 shines. With a 5,500mAh battery, there’s no problem getting through the day or a day and a half with moderate to heavy usage.
The fast charging continues to be a highlight, and 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging means you can go from empty to full in less than half an hour.
Software & Features
With OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15, everything feels clean, intuitive, and personalized. OnePlus has committed to four years of major Android updates and five years of security patches — a welcome departure in the Android world.
Features such as an in-display fingerprint scanner, face unlock, IP68 water resistance, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers round off the package and give users a premium experience with very little corners cut.
