Poco F3 GT: If you’re a mobile gamer who doesn’t want to break the bank for a premium flagship, the Poco F3 GT could be the one.

It’s purpose-built for gamers, with strong performance, a high-refresh screen, gaming triggers, and a unique look, all while being well-priced.

But is just a gimmick-laden, flashy phone, or does it genuinely offer a ’jack-of-all-trades’ experience? Let’s dive into the details.

Design: Big, Futuristic and Gamer-Ready

The Poco F3 GT jumps to attention right off the bat with an aerospace-grade aluminum frame, glass back and magnetic pop-up shoulder triggers. It’s one of the few smartphones in its price bracket that makes that’s both  looks like was built for gamers and feels that way as well.

The angular body, with the RGB lighting around the camera module and matte finish, has a sporty, beefy feel.

For all that solid construction, the phone weighs approximately 205g and is 8.3mm thick, so you may find it a little heavy to use in lengthy sessions, but that’s a small sacrifice to accommodate the metal frame and internal cooling. There’s also IP53 certification, which provides splash resistance.

Display: Built for Gaming and Binge-Watching

The Poco F3 GT comes equipped with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate.

Whether you’re browsing Netflix or going to work in Call of Duty Mobile (rest in peace PUBG), the picture is crisp, colorful and beautifully responsive.

The screen also works fine indoors and outdoors thanks to HDR10+ support, ridiculous nits that go up to 1300 and great contrast level. The bezels are thin, and the punch-hole selfie shooter is not in your face.

Performance: Beast Mode ENGAGED

Under the hood, the Poco F3 GT is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200, a beast of a processor that can take Snapdragon 870 on in everyday usage.

Combined with 6GB/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, the phone can handle everything you throw at it — from multitasking to graphics-heavy games.

Throw in the vapor chamber cooling and gamer-friendly triggers, and you have a device designed to withstand long gaming periods with minimum drop-off in performance.

Games such as Asphalt 9, BGMI, and Genshin Impact play well at high settings.

It ships with MIUI 12.5 for Poco, which is relatively clean (and geared toward gaming), but there are a few bits of preloaded bloatware you’ll probably want to remove.

The Camera Is Good, Although Not Its Primary Feature

The camera system consists of a 64MP main sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro camera. The main shooter provides decent shots in the daylight — colors are punchy, detail is fine and dynamic range is respectable.

Low-light image quality isn’t class-leading, but it’s not a slouch thanks to night mode.

The ultra-wide camera is fine — it gets the job done, but it is soft around the edges. The macro lens is just a filler for the most part. The 16-megapixel front facing camera captures decent looking selfies with good skin tones but at times loses against low-light conditions.

The camera isn’t one of the F3 GT’s strong points overall, but it does the job for everyday use and sharing to social media.

Battery & Charging: Quick & easy

The Poco F3 GT packs a 5065mAh battery and it easily lasts for a day of mixed usage including gaming and video streaming.

When battery time does come, the 67W fast charger in the box will take you from 0 to 100% in about 40 minutes — ideal for those always on the go.

Pros:

Strong gaming performance with Dimensity 1200
120Hz AMOLED panel with HDR10+
Metal frame design in sleek and sexy matte black the matte finish and the black case profiles give the dock a broad construction of a traditional gamer-centric design.
2-piece Design: Pop up magnetic triggers for Racing games
67W fast charging and decent battery life
Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos powerhouse for soundfulness.

Cons:

The cameras are just OK for the price
Slightly heavy for non-gamers
MIUI still has some bloatware
No expandable storage

Poco F3 GT Verdict: It’s an Easy Call for Gamers

The Poco F3 GT not only offers the perfect package of high-end performance, a great display, and unique gaming features for mobile gamers at a reasonable price point, it also doesn’t break the bank.

The cameras and the software are not perfect, but the overall package is tough to beat at this price. If your preferences veer towards high performance and immersive entertainment, this phone has got them in spades.
