POCO X6 Neo 5G: POCO, the brand that brought affordable devices with a bang, is once again back in the mix with its latest budget-friendly 5G smartphone, the POCO X6 Neo 5G.

A stylish performer for the Gen-Z with good-looking design, decent specifications and 5G support don’t come with a heavy price tag is the catch here.

But how well does it work in everyday life? Is it more than just looks? So, let’s find out more about what the POCO X6 Neo 5G has to offer and where it has its shortcomings.

Design & Build:

Thin, Light, Sleek 4 quick-booting, energy-efficient, & entertaining to no end ful Widget

The design of the POCO X6 Neo is one of its highlights. It’s incredibly slim at the waist of 7.69mm and is feather-light at 175g for a phone this big, making it one of the lightest in the segment. It feels great in your hand and is not tiring to use even with extended periods.

The back of the phone is a matte finish and a glossy camera module, giving it a sleek, modern design. Although it’s of plastic construction, the finish overall looks premium.

You also have IP54 water and dust resistance, which means you also won’t have to worry about it if you’re on your hike and suddenly caught in the rain, which doesn’t always go hand in hand with products at this price point.

Screen: Clear and colourful AMOLED

At the front, POCO X6 Neo throws a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display at 120Hz refresh rate. Colors are vivid, blacks are deep, and brightness goes to a full 1000 nits, meaning you can use it just fine outside.

And the screen is immersive and slippery, with a centered punch-hole camera and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covering.

The 120Hz refresh rate contributes to the smooth feel when scrolling through social feeds or gaming. This is easily one of the best in the segment.

Performance:

A Reliable Everyday Machine Performance: The machine you can depend on every day.

Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM (including virtual RAM) and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It’s not a gaming powerhouse, but for everyday use — multitasking, social media, streaming, light gaming — it does the job just fine.

The chipset performs well for light to medium gaming. Games such as BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile work seamlessly on medium settings, without any noticeable heat and lag. If you value daily reliability and 5G support just as much as raw muscle, the X6 Neo performs admirably.

Cameras: Easy on the Setup, Just As Good on the Output

On the back, you’ll find a dual-camera system — a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. UNISOC SC9863, This device comes with a rear dual camera by Sony, 13MP+2MP, with 8MP front camera for selfies.

BRIGHT LIGHT The main camera in direct sunlight provides unexpectedly sharp and vivid images with good dynamic range. Portrait mode is competent at edge detection, though the second lens doesn’t add much. In low light, you get passable results with a little help from Night Mode, but don’t expect flagship-level results.

The selfie camera offers up social-media-friendly shots, and video recording tops out at 1080p 30fps, as it should at this price.

Battery & Charging: Day Long useEffect and Favourite Low Energy support

The X6 Neo is backed by a 5000mAh battery and has good battery life. You should get well over a day of use, even with heavy on-screen time. Video playback, social scrolling and casual gaming are all good to go on the phone.

It’s also compatible with 33W fast charging, which returns a mostly empty tank to full in a shade over one hour, not a blazing fast result but understandable at its price point.

Software: MIUI with a Taste of POCO

The device ships with MIUI 14 for POCO on top of Android 13. The UI is rich in features and well-polished and it is also bundled with some bloatware. Luckily, most of it is retractable. Xiaomi is kind enough to promise 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches, which is all you ask for in this segment.

Pros:

Compact and slim with IP54 rated for water and dust resistance
Dynamic AMOLED screen with a 120Hz screen-refresh rate
Good battery life and decent charging velocity
5G’s connection you can count on
Competitive rates and a premium quality design

Cons:

Cameras don’t perform all that well in low light.
There are still a handful of pre-installed apps in MIUI
No ultrawide or macro lens
Not the best performance for the serious gamer

POCO X6 Neo 5G Verdict: Value for money for regular users

The POCO X6 Neo 5G has a well judged spec list. It gets the basics right — a beautiful screen, a lightweight design, fast performance and all-day battery — while sticking to an affordable price. It’s not for power users or camera aficionados, but for someone in need of a reliable daily driver with 5G, it’s about as good as it gets in its category.
